This week I overpacked for a trip. This is in spite of my recent capsule wardrobe packing success, and post on said topic!
I have to say I’m more than a little disappointed in myself! But there’s a lesson in everything. The learning for me is in realising how little we actually need to pack for a week. I thought I’d share what I wore on the trip instead of what I packed - that would be a much longer post and I’ve a date with a water slide shortly!
Seeing Anna’s (
) recent and very enviable holiday packing line up, I got a bit carried away and threw in a few dressier items, such as my Lug Von Siga top and Boden linen dress. But in truth, I’d forgotten where I was holidaying and who I was holidaying with! It’s a family affair here with no call for getting dressed up, and that’s more than ok. I’m leaning into less. Here’s a run down of the ‘less’ I’ve drawn out and worn from my overfilled suitcase. I feel that these outfits really reflect my personal style - minimal, casual and street/ feminine (these last two style words interchange depending on my mood) - with a summer slant. There’s nothing here that I have bought for the trip or that I wouldn’t wear otherwise:
Outfit 1: My Levi’s mint coord and old Ganni tee (similar here) - I love this ice cream toned ensemble.
Outfit 2: My treasured Suzie Kondi linen top, Agolde shorts and Piel de Mar basket bag - I sauntered around St Jean de Luz in this simple outfit and felt like a native 🇫🇷.
Outfit 3: My Cos tube dress, Whistles open knit tee (similar here) and Alienina rope bag - this outfit was always a non-negotiable. Love the texture of the open knit and the rope against the simple ribbed dress.
Outfit 4: My Leset Margo tee, Cos studded belt (similar here) and COH Marcelle - feel like I’m channeling
vibes here!
Outfit 5: My other Ganni tee (similar here), Zara linen blend shorts and Cos phone pouch (preloved here).
Outfit 6: My Leset Margo, H&M leopard print shorts and Adidas Handball - very much inspired by
here with her cool girl shorts and sneaks looks 😍.
And lastly, I thought that this outfit would be a fun one to include. If like me you spent the summer of 2020 obsessing over Marianne’s wardrobe from Normal People (see here from
), this one’s for you! 😆I really hope that you’ve enjoyed this bitesize exploration into my ‘leaning into less’ minimal, casual and holiday-appropriate wardrobe. A huge thanks to
for sharing my Substack this week which has resulted in some gorgeous new subscribers and followers 👋🏻 Thanks for being here and I hope to see you again next weekend, Jenny x
