I was more than a little pleased to be mentioned in
this week. Anna’s kindness could not have come at a better time as I’ve been having some imposter syndrome feelings this week, about this little Substack space of mine. There are so many eloquent, impressive and industry-experienced writers on here, who write thought-provoking and meaningful pieces for a living. It is hard not to feel inadequate! While I am never without an idea of what to pen, it’s the when to pen that can be the challenge! For example, this week’s post is coming to you from an airport lounge and a late night train! But I love this space and I’m determined to continue to squeeze, sandwich and stitch my musings into the in-between of life, as that can be where the magic lies. This piece is entitled ‘Rewearing and Resharing’ and looks at pieces I’ve been rewearing and restyling this week, and outfits I’ve been resharing in the form of a mood board.
Rewearing
If you’re a recent subscriber, a huge welcome, and here’s to good times! And if you’re a olde-faithful, a huge thank you, and you’ll know that what I post here is guided by my own personal journey towards sustainable style. My shopping habits have radically changed since starting this Substack, honestly. Gone are the days when the hallway doubled as a postal depot and I was on first name terms with our local couriers. I am far from perfect, and my kids still tell me that I’ve too many clothes, but I’m well on my way towards a better place. To that end, I like to rewear, restyle, and recreate outfits from what I currently own as a way to ‘curb the urge’, to shop.
COH Ayla jeans
With the glorious weather we’ve been having in the UK (this was meant to be sarcastic but it’s actually perked up today!), I’ve been reaching for my stashed-away-for-autumn COH Ayla jeans. Wearing them makes me feel ‘street’ (one of my three style words) without looking like I’ve tried too hard. I took two sizes down from my usual so they sit high waisted, and I love to wear these with a cropped or boxy silhouette on top. For my travels this week (the reason is revealed at the end!), I styled these jeans with a brown marl linen t-shirt from H&M (they do great linen tees - see below for more in wish list pieces) and on arrival with this broderie cropped blouse from M&S x Sienna Miller. These outfits were both topped off with my Adidas Handball in white, St Agni woven bag and Massimo Dutti jacket (available preloved here) - this jacket has to be my most worn preloved purchase this year.
Cashmere t-shirt
The other slightly unseasonable item but one which I’ve been reaching for this week is The White Company cashmere t-shirt.
spotted this as a dupe for the sold out Reformation Paco tee, and I’d gone on to include in my line up of goodies. It’s a good one, and has now gone into the sale, much to my frustration having bought it only last weekend! I took two sizes up from my usual to achieve a relaxed fit and have barely taken it off. Here are three ways I’ve styled it this week alone, for day - with COH Ayla jeans, Havaianas and the Cos Swing bag - for evening - with Levis Ribcage jeans, Aeyde heels and neutral leather belt (similar here) and for work - with Levis Ribcage jeans in black, Daphine beads (similar here), St Agni woven bag, Flattered flats and old H&M leather belt (similar here). There are not many pieces that can cover all three!Resharing
There are a few tools which I use consistently to keep me on a steady course towards a more sustainable style. These are primarily with the Indyx app where I keep a digital wardrobe, diarise outfits and ‘test drive’ wish list pieces. This is also where I play around with my wardrobe, find different combinations, and map what I’m wearing, and not wearing.
But I have never actually made a mood board before. A huge omission from my toolkit! A mood board feels like it fulfils a slightly different function to what I currently use. It feels more about pure aesthetic pleasure, be that in texture, colour, form, or shape, more instinctive and more ‘mood’ driven, than about creating or constructing curated ‘looks’, or specific outfits.
And so I present to you mood board #1! It’s giving me relaxed, Olsen-esque, beachy, boardwalk vibes. Loose cut trousers, coupled with simple slouchy tops, elevated by bold accessories. Clearly white or light coloured trousers are very much part of this ’mood’ too and have been for a few weeks! I particularly love Anouk’s tapered jeans below. If you’ve spotted anything similar, please do let me know on chat.
Wish list pieces
This week’s wish list pieces are deceptively simple. I mean, who doesn’t need these basics in their armoury?
White Bermuda shorts

I swear these shorts are following me. Here are my favourite sightings and stylings from Marianne,
and Hailie Bieber. I love how each of them have styled them very simply with a black belt and black top/ accessories. Marianne’s are from UKGAP, Sam’s are from Arket and I wouldn’t like to guess where Hailie buys hers!White linen t-shirt

I do so love a linen t-shirt. They tick the relaxed, but elevated box when it comes to summer basics and make me think of the beachy coolness of Angie Smith. I would style this incredibly simply, similar to Amrita’s look on my mood board above. From left to right: H&M linen t-shirt, Arket oversized linen-blend tshirt, Cos linen t-shirt.

This is my first foray into underwear in my wish list pieces but I feel that, given I’m listing the slightly sheer linen tees above, this is a necessary inclusion!
raves about Wacoal bras on her IG (now stocked at M&S!) and Anna recommends Skims (see below) so I’ll definitely be trying these two brands. From left to right: Skims Scoop bra, Skims Seamless Sculpt bra and Wacoal Ines bra.Well we got there! Hopefully this post has managed to remain coherent despite the travels. What to know where I was and what I was doing? I’ll leave you with this pic - yes, that’s Gary Barlow enjoying a Guinness mid show in Dublin! I hope you have a lovely week and to see you next weekend, Jenny x
