Monthly Good Things // 05
Welcome back to Good Things — a monthly edition of My Style Rush which follows the format of 3 Good Outfits, 2 Good Finds, and 1 Good Read, all with our usual focus on intentional, sustainable style.
For our 3 Good Outfits, we focus on building outfits with what we already own.
Last month, I leaned into colour to create outfits in which I felt good, and was delighted to be joined by a creator whose use of colour is nothing short of masterful, Ritika.
This month, we’re welcoming our very own Phileas Fogg - Lindsay Sword - who is freshly returned from a trip around the world, travelling with nothing more than a carry-on in tow! While packing that lightly is an enviable skill, Lindsay is here to inspire us in how she puts together outfits designed simply to feel good.
2 Good Finds is our curated dopamine hit of pieces that stand out because they have the potential to be:
A wardrobe “expander” - helping us to extend how we use what we already own.
A wardrobe “lifer” - buying less, but better and with more longevity, à la Kelly Williams.
A wardrobe “winner” - fulfilling a long wished for look or vibe. Those items that become your style North Star.
Sometimes they’re new, sometimes preloved but they’re always chosen with care.
With the sheer volume of content on offer here on Substack, discovering a truly 1 Good Read or a new-to-me publication always feels worth sharing - so whenever I come across one, I save it to pass along here.
Outfit 1
In Outfit 1, Lindsay Sword flexes her style heritage of running track and of a passion for menswear to create outfits with “a dash of tomboy”. This is SUCH an interesting way to add tension and personality, and really taps into Lindsay’s personal style history. I’m realising my style words quietly echo this too — casual, minimal and street — and that my alternative third word, feminine, is actually shaped by the contrast. So I’m leaning into it too!
Lindsay Sword and I have also had more than a few strangely cosmic moments over the years — similar post titles, identical purchases, the same pieces shared at the same time — and honestly, who better to align with!
In Lindsay’s words:
This is my ideal outfit: a gorgeously-cut blazer, a heather grey tee (a sweatshirt in colder temps, I know Jenny would agree with me) cool, chill jeans with a slight barrel leg, and a touch of western with my belt and boots. There’s nothing I feel more myself in than a jeans-and-a-tee and a great blazer. It’s the perfect combo of relaxed yet structured, with a dash of tomboy, which pretty much sums up my style!
Outfit 2
In Outfit 2, I’m giving you a glimpse of where I’m writing this piece - a campsite on the shores of Lake Garda, Italy! A holiday outfit for sure, but a reminder that “bathers” worn as a top can be not just convenient but also intentional. These are from Aussie brand Seafolly - the cap sleeve balances my pear shape and makes for a good pairing with my new boyish Alémais jorts 😍. A basket bag is of course obligatory.
Outfit 3
Despite the floral pattern. there’s something undeniably boyish (almost James Dean-esque) about this look: a resort shirt worn open over a white tee, paired with great denim. I found this shirt in my local charity shop and it felt like the perfect piece… until I discovered the moth holes across the back. I’m still on the hunt for a replacement, so answers on the back of a postcard, please.
For our 2 Good Finds, it’ll come as no surprise to see that I’m including a pair of Bermuda shorts/ jorts. These ones are the Nelis satin shorts from The Frankie Shop and are perfectly poised between effortless poolside elegance and polished evening dining. The styling here too 👌.
Falling under Angie Uh’s spell once again, I’ve been seeking One Good Pair of White Denim. One of my favourite denim silhouettes is the Agolde 90s mid rise loose fit, so I set out to find these in a white/ off white colourway, preloved of course. eBay came up with the goods and I can’t wait to style these, across the seasons.

If you don’t subscribe/ follow her already, I’d thoroughly recommend Gabriela R. Proietti publication Local Style. And what an apt recommendation given my location! Gabriela writes passionately about shopping local, artisan brands and sustainable style, but from an Italian perspective. She is a wealth of information, sharing shopping tips with me for Verona, our nearest town. What’s not to love!

See you next week for more style inspiration and sustainable style, and wishing you a very restful weekend, Jenny x

This felt so aligned because I've also been thinking about jorts and white denim. I haven't bought any yet. It seems that it's time for a trip to the thrift store!
Thank you for your beautiful words, Jenny! It is an honor to be included in this wonderful series and piece ❤️😍 and I can’t wait to see your Verona travels!!
