Make sure to deep freeze any wool/cashmere sweaters or knits for at least two weeks before wearing or putting away (freeze after putting them in a freezer safe plastic bag/ziploc). I often opt to freeze for a month because I also knit and have quite the yarn stash. Some pests like clothes moths and carpet beetles love munching on animal fibers and the oils and skin cells they collect and can be very hard to get rid of once you have an infestation (and their eggs are basically invisible to the naked eye). Thrifted/preloved sweaters are always the best part of fall! Can’t wait for it to cool down enough to pull out my Misha & Puff again.
Happy to help! It’s actually pretty common for museums and facilities working with fabrics, wood, etc. that can be ruined by bugs to do, but thermally treating things isn’t as well known if you aren’t actively involved in that world or the one of fiber arts/crafts. I wish more people knew though because it’s super easy to do and can save so much heartache. Just as long as it’s a deep freezer/chest freezer and gets to I believe somewhere around - 14 to -20 degrees F and it’s in there for at least a week- I’m very conservative with pests so I double the length of time- you should be pest free and it’s so nice not to have to worry about down the road. Here’s a resource on it- it’s advice for museums but the same principles apply and if you scroll down a bit it addresses home freezers too. https://museumpests.net/solutions-low-temperature-treatment/ Happy sweater weather! ❤️
Like you I really appreciate Anna's way of styling sweater, so she played a big part in my discovery of cashmere. I bought my first cashmere sweater from Uniqlo (on Vinted) and they are amazing ! I really love the feel of them, and their versatility, so I think that they truly are my heroes lol. I can't wait to wear them again this year ! x

Amazing thanks Kate! 🙏
Yes! Some of my favorite pieces are preloved and great tips for secondhand shopping.
Thanks Tina! So glad you found some of the tips useful ❤️
Yesss, sweater weather is the best! So ready for cosy season.
Me too! Outfit planning in my head. It’s flip flopping between warm and cool where we are, so not quite there yet.
Thank you for this post, it's really helpful 🤩
Thanks so much Celeste! Do you have a knitwear ‘hero’? x
